Dutch producer and live act Conforce is back with 'Autonomous', a fifth artist album and the latest in his long relationship with Delsin Records.

Conforce is Boris Bunnik, a producer who explores the deepest realms of dub, house, techno and electro under many different names. His Conforce alias is where his most club orientated material comes from and this new nine track album finds the Transcendent label boss producing dark syntheses inspired by his hometown and harbour city, Rotterdam, and its automated industries.

Opening track 'Tidal Gateway' immediately takes you in a watery world when distant throngs, little rays of light and churning undercurrents all filled the airwaves. 'Fauna of Estuaries' is more dynamic, with an icy mix of percussion and glassy sounds underpinned by a rumbling sense of industry. It's ethereal stuff that makes way for the menacing tension of 'Inland Current' and its fizzing electronics and lingering synths. 'ECCV Quay' is the sound of a busy harbour with cranes and boat engines coming drifting towards you from all angles and 'Harnessed Life In Programmed Form' gets more urgent and unsettling, as if trouble is brewing in the depths of the sea.

Into the second half and the mood changes again with the trance inducing pads and slithering hi hats of 'Autonomously Surpassed'. Crunchy textures, spangled rubber bass and malfunctioning computers all drift by like sonic flotsam and 'Meuse-Plain' is the harbour in overdrive, with heavy machinery sending out dark waves of sound and thumping grooves that make you move. 'Seasonal Erosion' mixes spaced out sound design with percolating drums that really churn up the waters and finally 'Stimulation & Emulation' is a dark and moody dub current that speaks of a late night shut down and animated bacterial life forms.

This is a masterfully conceptual album that really paints a vivid picture of a harbour as heard from deep down in the depths.
