Starting 2017 off properly, renowned London-based imprint marks its fifth year in operation - presenting their next wax release to the world. A forward-minded musical spirit runs deep through the grooves of Pressed Records, as can be heard through the stellar releases of artists with am acclaimed status like Congi, Quantum Soul, Ipman or BunZer0. The global reception speaks for itself, with feats like repeated airplay on BBC Radio and vocal support by Benga & Skream among a long list of supporters.

The label is not kidding around, when it comes to their 13th release - featuring two excellent craftsmen of heavy foundations from around the world. The A-side is occupied by the sounds of Elefant Doc - a highly regarded producer and musician from the United States, with releases on imprints like Tuba NYC, Gradient Audio or MindStep under his belt. On the flip-side our ears are greeted with an outstanding remix, performed by one of New Zealand’s finest bass ambassador duo’s alias Perverse. Their impressive musical achievements include releases on bedrock foundation labels like Tempa, Artikal, Innamind or Bøka Records, as well as support from an seemingly endless list of reputable patrons like DJ Youngsta, Mala, V.I.V.E.K and J:Kenzo to name a few.

Like interstellar space the sound of this release can safely be described as otherworldly - both in terms of design as well as musical flow throughout the arrangement. Elefant Doc’s ‘GG249 Dub’ is showered with grainy textures of post-modern dub sirens and reverberating space. Finely placed drums carry the sparse percussive instrumentation along a relentless display of precisely executed low end frequency excursions. Strong influences of Dub are transported into the sonic future, resulting in unearthly but organic sound. Taking control of the flip side Perverse’s remix immediately claims a more upfront style, introducing a flute- and string-like leads to the captivated listener. As we’re led into the main section, the energetic instrumentation delivers a more than appropriate build-up into a immensely ferocious, tribal sub workout. Rigorously supporting the hypnotic drums along an enthralling and dynamic mid-range, making sure it’s going to fire up the dance.
