The British-Spanish producer duo Dan Duncan and Igor "Pig" Tchkotoua are frequent guests at the Cocoon Recordings family hotel. With their five EPs for Cocoon and their only album so far, "Imagine", the two have definitely and sustainably left their marks on the map of electronic dance music. Last not least, this is probably a weighty reason why techno legends Underworld have repeatedly drawn on the remix skills of Pig & Dan. After a short time of silence, the duo is now back with a bang: "The Ride", with its siren sound among all the funky beats and tribal effects, is setting an unforgettable acoustic imperative that is looking in the primetime floorburner direction. And the Insane Mix of "Titan" continues exactly where "The Ride" has stopped, using samba-esque percussions and totally hysteric escalations within the break. Also with their almost eleven-minute-long opus "Naked Butterfly", Pig & Dan are reviving the times of noise-orientated rave techno, thanks to an angry insect squadron, but they still sound as modern as can be, due to the vibrating poly-rhythm and the felicitous use of Dub's deep-frequency fuzziness. However, Pig & Dan have never before been so uncompromisingly focused on getting all arms up, but at the same time remain true to themselves, first of all.
