"The best f***ing horn section in the world" Mark Ronson
The Haggis Horns return with their first new material in over two years. Following the tragic loss of founder member Jason Rae in 2008, the band have been back in the studio to record their second LP. These two tracks are the first fruits of those sessions, with lead track "The Cockroach Grind" featuring funk aficionado and former Zap Mama singer Nia Saw (aka Lucinda Slim) dropping fantastic vocals over the tightest funk band this side of the Atlantic. It's the usual straight-up funk floor-filling fare from the Haggis boys - two tracks of pure funk energy. Look out for the album "Keep on Movin" later this year.
"Rating: 4/5
You know when Kool & the Gang started making those bland crossover records in the '80s and you wondered where all the nasty funk went? Well call the cops cuz I think the Haggis Horns took it. The Jerk and its fine b-boy break is going right into the party bag where I suspect it'll stay for a while." - Andrew Monk-One Mason (Wax Poetics)
"Rating: 4/5
Funky!" - Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts)
"Rating: 5/5
"Superb. Packs a serious punch. Perfect for the dancefloor and perfect for the show. will be getting right behind this little beauty!"" - Simon Hodge
"BOTH SIDES ARE TOTALLY BRILLIANT" - Adrian Gibson
