The first release on Lost Thumb Records is truly exceptional, firmly establishing the newborn labels manifesto as a platform for unique underground music. It also gives you a firm idea of what to expect from future releases, and the bar has been set very high indeed.

We, This is the opening salvo from Guilherme Lopes' latest brainchild Rehearsal (he also makes some seriously mind-blowing four to the floor barnstormers as OneMenWork and eclectic bass workouts as Zacarocha). They say the third time is the charm, and that is most certainly true of this frankly astounding release.
The EP opens with Europa's Fauna kicking things off in superb style with a track whose cross pollination of hypnotic techno and jacking house rhythms will lay waste to any dance floor you play it on, building the tension with layer upon layer of sublime sound design and more creative twists and turns than you can fathom. Breathtaking stuff.
Next up is SubstiStupid that immediately grabs your attention with an irresistible kick groove and menacing synth. From there the track never lets up until seven minutes later you're left reaching for the repeat button.
Urban Paired Traxx is given the unenviable task of following the two opening numbers, and honestly you would be expecting some respite. However there is none to be had. None at all. Blending Chicago groove and german sensibilities is tough to pull off but Rehearsal makes it seem easy with slinky 909 rhythms and an arpeggio that will entrench itself in your mind.
The title track We, This is up next. With its catchy lead synth melodies and sinister vocal, it's a bit of a nod to Rehearsals bass music alias Zacarocha but in a more techno light.
Rounding out the release is What U Want which just has to be heard to be believed, a word of warning if you plan on using this track as an opening number youd better have something killer lined up to play next, your average techno cut will most certainly not make the grade. You have been warned.

When questioned about the release, Rehearsal says working on the music led him to weave a concept through the tracks, one of self discovery of questioning why we do what we do, what drives us. This certainly shines through in the vocals, with We, This stating I want to know why this is happening and What U Want asking just that - What do you want? Well, if the answer is five superbly crafted slices of genre defying dance music, that blend driving techno sensibilities, jacking rhythms, IDM grade sound design, and hypnotic melodies then this release is for you.
