Hammer’s expertly-curated Remmah Recordings continues to highlight exceptional new talent in club and electronic music with the propulsive first EP from Frankie Elyse & Blair Too, featuring two club-ready productions alongside a shimmering remix from Hammer himself.
Slowly cooking up tunes together for a number of years in their native Glasgow, Frankie Elyse & Blair Too are undoubtedly informed by the city’s rich electronic music history. Away from the studio, Elyse regularly curates Polka Dot Disco Club, a party contributing to this continuum from a uniquely FLINTA perspective, blending local talent with international guests including SPFDJ, Sama’ Abdulhadi and Jen Cardini.
Mirroring its title, ‘& Again’ taps into the bubbling anticipation release of a night out with friends, distinctly underground but bright in colour, built around a hypnotic vocal sample and euphoric chords. Plainly written and orchestrated to tip dancefloors over the edge, its creators tip a hat to legendary local labels like Soma and Glasgow Underground’s progressive vision of house and techno, further assisted by Hammer’s deeper, escalating remix, merrily leading dancers down a darker, but still bouncing pathway.
Bridging the gap between, the duo summon a throbbing bassline, choppy breaks and a UKG-inflected shuffle for ‘Zumo’, crafting another fresh and imaginative banger around a distinct voice, alongside their own, happily lost in the joy of the rave.
