Timed perfectly for Valentine’s season, Athens Of The North warms up the winter with a swoon-worthy joint release by two of the UK’s most quietly magnetic talents: James Alexander Bright and Faye Meana.

A-side ‘Baby’ is an 80s synth-bass–led disco-soul burner, glowing with analogue charm and late-night sparkle. With Bright in full heart-on-sleeve mode dueting with Meana’s velvet-smoothed vocal on a split-screen portrait of modern love, the track feels equal parts playful flirtation and dance-floor closeness.

On the flip, ‘Take It Slow’ is seductively unhurried and rich with warmth. The track leans into patience and presence, an intimate counterpoint that brings out the duo’s musical chemistry in its most understated form.

Pressed on limited red 7” vinyl (300 copies only) and released digitally, the two tracks form a perfectly paired love note for the season: bold and glowing on one side, soft and smoldering on the other. It’s a Valentine’s release not of a couple, but of two artists letting their individual affections bloom in stereo.
