Tharn is the dub techno project of interdisciplinary artist Sam Ashton, originally from London and now based in Portland, Oregon. Best known for his ambient work as Fortresses, with releases on Dragon's Eye Recordings and Flaming Pines, Ashton brings the same rich sense of atmosphere and detail to Tharn.

Tharn's new EP, Reach, follows the debut EP Seek, released on Belgian label Crossfade Sounds in spring 2025, serving as both a sequel and companion piece. Where Seek reflected the winter gloom and constant rain of the Pacific Northwest, Reach opens into light: stripped down, immediate, and radiant, like sunlight breaking through misty trees, carrying silver linings and quiet optimism. Hushed field recordings of Oregon's forests thread through the mix, while ghostly, hypnotic vocal lines rise above sporadic dub chords and ambient guitar swells, giving the music a luminous focus across its two tracks, "Reach" and "Last."
