Yep

Gus Emmett & Optro

BUTS77 | 2026-01-02
Teaming up for their first release, Gus Emmet and Optro deliver a groove-filled two-track EP, which balances character, emotion and energy. Opener ‘Yep’, whilst broken beat in its formation, paints a story of all things organically structured, as a breezy swirling melody sings its soul, with sparkling hues and rippling back spins filling the gaps. Contrary to the high-pitched drama of blistering winds and crashing against the glistening sun is sister ‘Fly’. Indeed singing just as smooth, yet undercut with deeper, more thoughtful feeling. Swirling through an ethereal atmosphere, blushes of pastel-infused chords shimmer until they burst through and shine, strumming along delicately until the light fades.

Fellow friend Kris Davies completes the package with his take on both tracks. He adopts a more upbeat turn for both: ‘Fly’ goes heavier on the synthesised sounds and drum kicks for instant energy throughout, whilst his remix of ‘Fly’ pursues more drive - rattling and rolling around with the melody and brings the EP to a close with plenty of energy to strut into the darkest of nights.
