Cornelia releases the powerful new single "Half Way", a shimmering journey through the shadows towards hope.
Cornelia Dahlgren is a Swedish-born, Isle of Man-based artist who has previously collaborated with the likes of Bonobo and Portico Quartet. Cornelia unveils "Half Way", her new single exploring the fragile yet determined journey of managing depression. With lush synth layers, textured electronic production, and intimate vocals, the track captures what it feels like to be caught between darkness and light.
"Half Way" emerged from a quiet moment when Cornelia was sitting at the piano, feeling the weight of a depressive episode yet realising she wasn't at rock bottom anymore. She was halfway out. That idea felt beautiful to her, not the pressure to be fully healed, but the simple acknowledgement of progress.
After recording the initial sketches in Ableton, she reached out to Hinako Omori, whose analogue synth work she deeply admires. Cornelia wanted to recreate a sense of emotional build up, and Hinako helped elevate the track with her incredible sound design and intuitive understanding of harmony.
Cornelia recorded the vocal layers late at night to capture a raw, unfiltered tone. "Half Way" isn't just about depression; it's about hope, and about being gentle with yourself when you're still on the path.
