In 1986, Bedford producers Tony Boninsegna and Richard Compton began experimenting at Budeaux's, a makeshift garage studio built with the help of local synth tinkerer Gazza. Working as The Rhythm Squad, the duo cut a handful of raw, house-inspired tracks that folded drum machines and synth lines into the UK's nascent rave vocabulary—well before the sound had taken root outside London and Manchester. Long buried in the archives, these early experiments capture the restless energy of two outsiders pushing dance music forward from the margins.
