Miguel Palhares returns to Piston Recordings with ‘Move Yo’, which follows his last effort ‘Always’. Known for his groove-driven sound and sharp production, Miguel delivers once again with a track full of energy and flair. From his early days behind the decks at 19 to commanding dancefloors across Portugal, he’s been on a steady rise. Since 2013, he’s dropped quality cuts on respected labels, and as a core member of the Piston crew, he continues to evolve with every release. This one’s another step forward and we’re always excited to hear his next creations.
The Original Mix gets us underway, opening with pumping kick drums, sharp hi-hats, and rhythmic percussion that lock in an infectious early groove. Sweeping chords glide in with a slightly twisted edge, setting a moody yet captivating tone before a bouncing bassline drives the track into full motion. Cool vocal stabs echo throughout, adding attitude and character, while high strings and classic stabs float above the mix, giving the track a timeless, dancefloor-ready feel.
Nzagi returns to the label on remix duties. Active in the electronic scene since the mid-’90s, he kicked off his DJ journey in 1995 before sharpening his production skills at Academia – Escola de Audio. Influenced by jazz, funk, and classic house, his sound fuses rich percussion, deep, flowing basslines, and atmospheric layers. On the remix here, Nzagi uses a more subdued, atmospheric approach, opening with subtle kick drums, crisp hi-hats, and strong rhythmic percussion that create a refined, steady pulse. A hypnotic tone gradually rises, casting a spell over the groove as a thick bass note anchors the low end with understated power. Vocal shots break through the haze with just the right touch of presence, while deep chord stabs punctuate the mix, adding tension and emotional depth.
Pedro Barros also returns to Piston, delivering a solid remix. Hailing from Porto, Pedro brings a hypnotic blend of minimal rhythms, dubby chords, and deep basslines to the underground scene. As both DJ and producer, his sound is raw yet refined—deeply rooted in dub, minimal, and deep house. With atmospheric intensity and a passion for pushing boundaries, Pedro continues to captivate and evolve. Here, Pedro takes us deeper, into more hypnotic territory, with a subtle, pulsing kick drum and soft hi-hats alongside shuffling, understated percussion. Sweeping pads wash gently over the rhythm, adding warmth, while melodic arpeggios glide smoothly through the mix, creating an elegant, flowing texture. Distant vocal shots echo in and out like ghostly accents, enhancing the track’s immersive atmosphere.
