Zadig

Sotor Records
SOT01 | 2025-04-02
Following 6 years of Techno activism in Marseille and Casablanca, the French Morrocan Paradox project is moving a step forward with the launch of their new moroccan label SOTOR. Meaning "lines" in the arabic language, SOTOR shows here its interest in the various shades of Techno.

The first release, "Space time" is about the lines of physics and metaphysics and gathers three of the most established artists in the international techno scene.

Zadig delivers 2 original tracks while Perc and Oscar Mulero are on remix duty, to write the first lines of the Sotor's story.

Al Event horizon is an apocalyptic techno big-banger where Zadig combines both his hardcore and breakbeat influences in a unique way. Starting with a massive off-beat kick coated with groovy drum rolls, you will soon lose all sense of time and space when the smashing 4/4 bass kick drops in. Whereas the cutting hats and claps that emerge gradually are recalling Zadig's love for early techno sounds. With its heavy kick drums, sharp rhythms and dystopian synths, the French techno master offers you here your first experience into a black hole.

The cosmic journey continues with Perc's version of 'Event horizon'. The London based producer and man behind Perc Trax came out with an uncompromised remix in his very own percussive style, while preserving the hardcore spirit of the original. Remodeling the dystopian synths into a spacey relentless loop, and focusing on powerful breaks and drops, Perc uses the perfect ingredients for a functional peak-time highlight.

On the B-side, Zadig delivers a timeless electro-acid gem with "Circular causality". Construct Reform label boss draws here a musical allegory of our modern decadent world, where mankind is causing its own loss. Typical raw electro patterns wrapped in a low-end acid line open the track in an intentionally lo-fi atmosphere, followed by a continuously evolving high-pitched loop and a doomy modular-like synth pad. Some are already calling it a future classic.

On remix duty for the BI is the spanish all time techno Guru, Oscar Mulero. Pole Group and Warm up labels curator brings a fresh take on the original with a 4 to the floor hypnotic yet dynamic version while preserving its acid doomy spirit. A dystopian synth pad is leading this abyssal journey while the rolling bass line and the subtle acid loops dives the listener in a weightless sonic experience.
