Following our tradition of showcasing upcoming talents, Room welcomes Joline Scheffler. An artist hailing from North Sweden with a keen interest in deep, absorbing, atmospheric rhythms, which you will find plenty of in this “Anisoptera” EP. First off, the echoing atmosphere on ‘Anisoptera’ delivers exactly this. Soft kicks and clever percussion are paired with an absorbing groove which traps you in from the first minute. On ‘Indignant’, a similar formula is followed, but this time bringing in more groove and overall a more ‘dancey’ feeling, while maintaining the mysterious mood present on the rest of the EP. Electric sounds take over on ‘No Organic Chemistry’, bringing intensity levels up. The driving ‘Liquid Serenade’ is an ideal peak time weapon with evolving elements throughout the whole duration of the piece. A well-known artist for the imprint, Franz Jäger, brings on his A-class remix game, turning the original ‘Anisoptera’ into a very different piece, with a pounding kick/groove combination and warm atmospherics that make it a memorable one for most sets. Then, Joline provides the last one on the EP: ‘Closing Circle (You Can’t Control Me)’, a well suited name for a track that’s a perfect, emotional set-finisher.
