A staple of the underground house scene, Bruise lands on London’s Faith with a three-track EP, Ous. Hailing from Birmingham, Bruise, aka Christian Campbell, has made a name for himself through his unorthodox style, one that has received much support across the UK and further afield from leading tastemakers including Gilles Peterson and The Blessed Madonna to name a small few. His work showcases a vast array of musical influences, from Detroit-inspired house and techno to acid-tinged breakbeats built for the rave; his respect for the house genre is apparent throughout this three-track release on Faith. Ous EP opens with ‘Switch’, a euphoric and hard-hitting future club anthem. The lead, ‘Ous’ is a follow up to previous release ‘Joy’, spotlighted as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune in 2021, with the two tracks together forming ‘Joy-Ous’. Closing out this eclectic package, ‘Runaway’ is a cool, understated house outing that evokes a certain metropolitan groove.
