Afro tech and deep house innovator Thabo Tonick returns to Kid Fonque’s Stay True Sounds with ‘Low Rider’. A burgeoning talent hailing from SA, Thabo Tonick’s 2024 releases on the label have been championed by BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Benji B in the UK, an accolade shared by genre pioneers like Thakzin and Atmos Blaq. Thabo’s previous three-track EP ‘Seasons’ saw the artist develop his genre-crossing sound, and this two-track release continues this sonic journey. The lead, ‘Low Rider’ combines brooding synths with tuned percussion, creating hypnotic waves of polyrhythms that crash over the listener. What follows is ‘Nostalgia’ featuring fellow SA producers Deep Essentials, a harder dose of deep house built for the warm summer nights.
