The "VA Jardim" was created with the aim of giving visibility to Brazilian artists who have been presenting consistent and relevant work for the national electronic music scene, and we are even more excited for this second edition than the first time!
The compilation features 10 tracks of different genres and includes artists who impact both niche and specific micro-environments as well as some who have greater projection and reach with their work.
Talking a little more in-depth about the tracks, the first one is a piece by Jardineira's label managers, Seed Selector and Giorgio Menegatti, who joined forces with the talented São Paulo producer Duda Piratininga to present to the world the track "Guava Groove," which has a strong influence of classic house music, featuring piano samples leading the way and sounds from analog synths combined with robust drums, a fat bassline, and vocal chops that ensure a dynamic that certainly won't leave anyone standing still on the dance floor.
The second track is by the duo Banana Gold from Rio de Janeiro, a project conceived by producers Gaspar Muniz and Beno Ibeas. They contribute the track "O Baile," which features a main hook with a sample of funk carioca that invites the audience to dance with the solid groove of the track and an aesthetic that flirts with deep house and deep tech.
Continuing with our VA, the third track is called "Cabine Vertical" and belongs to producer Lycra Preta. It's a track that takes you to a club in the heights to dance. Groovy and engaging synths lead this journey. Its charming electric piano is an invitation to flirt casually, while the joyful rhythm of the track is maintained with its funky beat.
Next, producer Gabriel Evoke presents "High Senses," a fresh, joyful, and energetic track that fits perfectly with Jardineira Records. As we can observe in many Minimal House tracks, it's a piece with various layers of synthesizers that connect, intertwine, and tell a story. The bassline has a lot of groove, and the swung drums give the track movement. The vocal line brings a good vibe, and it's a track with potential for Brazilian dance floors, but also focused on the upcoming European summer.
To maintain the high level, the next track is by the veteran Rodrigo Ferrari, who graces our ears with "Bloody Mary," a groovy deep tech at 129 bpm, with an engaging vocal and electric piano solos in the breaks. Following this, an acid bass adds the final spice for the dance floor!
VNCO is the artist responsible for keeping our garden party going, presenting the track "Urban Flavour" that captures the vibrant essence of the city, where streets, buildings, and the glow of city lights inspire the creation of a track with influences ranging from House, Deep House, to Minimal.
Next, the duo Caju Sessions, composed by Agrabah and Caio Schmitz, brings "Cidade em Movimento," which presents an aesthetic influenced by old-school House/Disco with warm timbres reminiscent of the early 90s, like the Roland 707 drum machine and classic Korg Triton pianos. With contrasts between more sober moments and more effusive cuts, the track is designed for hotter moments on the dance floor.
Following logically after this work by the Curitiba duo, it couldn't be more fitting to continue this story with the much-awaited "Six Bossa" by the experienced Milton Chuquer. This track aims to bring the atmosphere of clubs and the musical influences the producer had in his life, where he loved watching the famous Samba Jazz Trios of the late 60s, such as Tamba Trio, Zimbo Trio, Som Três, Jango Trio, Os Catedráticos (Eumir Deodato), among many others.
As we near the end of our second compilation, the track "Good Vibrations" sets the perfect mood for this. The track is the product of the union between Brazilian Arthur Martinelli and German Martina Budde, featuring American vocalist Lee Wilson, who has a vast resume, having participated in tracks by artists like Kenny Dope, Todd Terry, J Paul Getto, and Angelo Ferreri. It's a track with melodies referencing soulful house, bringing a positive feeling, especially when combined with the message in the lyrics that we should exalt good vibrations!
Closing this selection, São Paulo's Ascencio wraps up VA Jardim 002 with the track "Sunshine," which features looped strings and pianos that create a hypnotic harmony, evoking moments of relief, nostalgia, and happiness.
Finally, we would like to say that we hope this curation pleases you. We tried to be eclectic and meticulous with the quality of the material, and with this compilation, we reaffirm our commitment to continue promoting and fostering the electronic music market and giving visibility to those artists who work hard and deserve their space.
