Inspired by the possibility of peace through pro-active resistance to war. ‘Milagros’ is AtalaiA’s story of overcoming his own hatred and turning the energy of revenge into art, diverting the power of his hands to productive good. With acceptance came peace like an awesome wave, washing away the darkness as it had nowhere to hide any more.
When building tracks in this genre AtalaiA favours synthesis and writes the melodies and bass lines himself, normally in one long take, constantly modulating and applying effects throughout to give a hand made, organic feeling. The aim of this process is to capture the present with momentum, allowing the universe to speak without interruption. The melodies and arrangement were created in Ibiza, Spain.
Shinrin-yoku
Inspired by the Japanese process of ‘forest bathing’. AtalaiA engages in daily breath work, meditation, fitness and time in nature while maintaining awareness and vigilance throughout the day. This track is born from beyond the boundaries of the mental and physical experience of life. Production began in 2017 based around a vocalist but it took several turns in 7 years, becoming a lesson in communication, negotiation and patience. Through its trials it stripped elements away and revealed instead a more simple essence. Sturdy harmonies gently evolve while filtering in and out as other sounds make their appearance. AtalaiA’s Nord Lead is his weapon of choice for hand crafting several top lines that culminate in a powerful, melancholic breakdown, rich in harmonics, distortion and gentle pitch bends. The track resolves through arpeggiated leads and bass while new elements tease playfully with intermittent vocals.
The Replicators
A track from AtalaiA’s back catalogue of secret IDs that has been impossible to place yet has found a home in so many of his sets. Inspired by replication in all things from musical arrangement and drum programming to our very essence as humans. The track contains field recordings from the Ibizan shore line and subliminal voices throughout.
