After the success of their first release with Bleak, Animal Farm welcome Stephen Brown to the label with his 'Tangent' EP.
Stephen Brown is an artist with a distinct sound; a sound he has crafted over 20 years across labels like Djax-Up-Beats, Transmat, Subject Detroit, Theory, Skudge presents and of course his own Realtime imprint.
Tangent is a balanced, delicate and restrained release. The title track is swathed in shimmering textures as disjointed drums and a fragile melody bring a feeling of organised chaos to the track.
'Reflective Practice' is a deep and melancholy roam through skipping percussion, broken toms, pads, strings and synth stabs. This is Detroit via Scotland.
German producer Markus Suckut takes up the controls, remixing Tangent. Suckut debuted in 2010 and has had a number of releases on respected labels such as Repitch, Edit Select ans Stroboscopic Artefacts as well as his own SCKT label. He is about to release his debut album, DNA, in May through Figure.
