It was on the day of tribute to the victims of slavery, in the gardens of the French Ministry of Overseas Territories on 23rd May 2023, that the stars finally aligned to bring together two extraordinary artists on the same stage. On that day, the deep voice of Christine SALEM, the bearer of ancestral Maloya-Blues from Réunion, was joined by the electro music of MOTSEK, a DJ and composer from Guadeloupe, trained in the fertile soil of Gwo-Ka, and founder of the Kaphonic Records label.
The inevitable shock of this encounter naturally led to a follow-up, with the two artists meeting in the studio a few weeks later to produce 3 tracks in a single breath. Christine SALEM's telluric voice powerfully hooks MOTSEK's powerful, masterful bass. The ancestors are irresistibly summoned, invited to revel in an exuberant modernity, propelled into an inevitable encounter with a standing today, fiercely alive and proud of its roots.
