Corsica's very own Swing Duke appears on DPUR's radar with much elegance displayed on his debut 3-track EP for the label. Featuring the freshest of ingredients, this 3 course meal takes you on a journey where the Duke himself needs no map; leaving ultimate freedom to the listener with a wandering mind.
Title track 'Exalt' comes in with a rolling bassline accompanied with lush chords and a 90's inspired stab pattern that takes you to a good place with a little bit of a breakbeat influence heard throughout the track. Smiles can be had with the direction this track goes as it adopts a more melodic bassline during the latter part, which captivates the listener on this playful journey.
'Shibumi' is next with a masterful set of tones and vibes. Starting with a mellow vibe, the track paces the listener to a slow start which later switches the groove to provide a more up-beat feel with a vibe-matching vocal throughout the tune. The way this track evolves allows you to feel the different layers of emotion which gives goosebumps almost instantaneously.
The closing track, titled 'In My Element' really has a divine taste where passion is felt all around. The almost-9-minute track is something special brought to you by the French mastermind himself, displaying a wide range of elements within his arsenal for a soothing experience from the choir-like vocals, to the organic sounding bass, and butter-smooth jazzy sax heard within the well packaged tune.
Swing Duke's 'Exalt EP' is definitely a different vibe showcasing DPUR's taste and love for the many styles and moods of House music, hoping to as well expand the palate of the listener.
While more can definitely be said about these three works of art, it's best to allow each track to speak for itself and take you on an everlasting drifting journey where you won't want to come back from.
