An artist with a long and rich musical heritage, Paul Deep makes his Proportion debut with the 3-track "Fazed" EP. A single remix come from Greek artist, Blusoul.
From the town of O'Brien, part of the Buenos Aires province, Paul Deep has been a mainstay of the progressive house scene with his immaculate fusing of rhythm and melody. For almost a decade his releases have featured on an array of esteemed imprints that include GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile, Juan Pablo Torrez's Clubsonica Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Over a double century of production credits thus tell their own story of Paul Deep's success as he makes his debut on Proportion with "Fazed".
Built upon a heavy beat and ticking percussive groove, the title track gently evolves with a range of melodic phrases that blends with sumptuous pads and shimmering arpeggios in an emotive combination. Waxing and waning with dancefloor knowhow, an exquisitely syncopated motif rolls forward with metronomic intensity to reveal a deep progressive gem. "Barion" continues the trademark rhythmic depth and rolling groove while textured pads and filtered motif enter the fray with typical subtlety and intensity. A beautiful piano sequence develops during the breakdown while a crescendo of delayed synth work paves the way for the dynamic groove to drop back into place alongside occasion vocal flourishes. Immediately revealing a slightly lighter touch and feel, "Ashura Path" excites with its off-beat hi-hats and punchy kick. Developing an expansive and beautifully cadenced synth pattern, delayed notes cascade across the stereo spectrum. Continuing a sparkling path across proceedings, the track reaches a rousing filtered denouement at the beatless mid-point before building once more through the final movement. An accomplished DJ and renowned figure in his Athens home city, plus producer of a portfolio of successful progressive house gems, the Greek star has found his work allied to some of the fines modern imprints that include the likes of Juice Box Music, Movement Recordings and Guy J's Lost and Found. Making his Proportion debut, the Blusoul remix of "Fazed" builds around the rhythmic groove of the original before evolving effortlessly with intelligent use of familiar themes found within Paul Deep's track. Rising and falling, a gathering sonic storm drives forwards as new melodic elements make their presence felt at the breakdown before extending through the second half with strong chord progression and club-friendly framework.
