Francis De Simone is unlike your average dance music producer. To begin with, De Simone started playing the drums at 2. But, unlike most two-year-olds, he graduated from pots and pans to real drums and continued to learn and develop as he grew older. His father (a bouncer in local nightclubs) was responsible for introducing him to house music. As he developed as a musician, he fell in love with funk, R&B, hip hop and Latin. You can hear all of these influences loud and clear on his debut for us, "Efdies". It's a hugely personal record for him (the title represents the letters in his name), and you can see why. It is a raw underground jam that still manages to deliver a serious feel-good moment. It reminds us of our favourite records by Kryptogram, Karizma and Moodyman. Marco Carola has had this one on heavy rotation and you can see why, what a tune.
