Since Marcel Lune's debut release 'Intergalactic Dance Floor Massacre EP' was released back in 2013 he's remained a prominent figure with a steady stream of releases on Studio Rockers, along with releases on Local Talk, Pusic Records & Audio Doughnuts. When not making music Marcel (AKA Motz Workman) can be found making music videos or behind the camera, having recently been filming for Gilles Peterson's "We out Here" Festival. Now in 2022 he returns to Studio Rockers with a silky smooth two track single 'Tearz'.
The title track 'Tearz' sets the mood perfectly with free flowing, loose shuffling percussion and drum programming. Jazzy piano and layers of polyrhythms build up an intricate web of melodies that rise in scale. The musical bass and kick, sync in time with the keys, contrasting with the drifting elements of the track. Subtle delays help widen the stereo depth of this melodic masterpiece.
The release is accompanied with the uplifting 'Imagine The Future'. The ascending chime-like synth arpeggio and bubbly bass line are key features of this mesmerising track. There is an underlying funky vibe that comes through pinned down by the club ready 4x4 disco drums and vocal samples.
