Ideal Audio's latest offering is served up by a French pairing who both lead the hectic lives of artist, label owner and club resident, Remain & Electric Rescue. Individually, both are leading light of the resurgent French techno scene. Together, they are a gallic production dream team.
Co-founder of Paris based Meant Records, Remain has, through a series of key releases for Throne Of Blood, My Favourite Robot and his own imprint, spread his ultramodern techno gospel. Dark, moody and deeply rooted in his rock background, Remain's music and skills have seen him holding residencies at Paris' most esteemed nightspots, Social Club and the Showcase Club.
Electric Rescue's ability to ease across the full spectrum of techno in his productions has seen him sitting comfortably on an array of labels that include Cocoon, Boysnoize Records, SCI+TEC, AFU Ltd and more. His own Skryptom and Calme Records have both featured releases from the biggest names and the Rex club has played host to his very own Skryptom parties.
"ERMA" finds the duo in sinister form. Their mysterious machine opens with a broken beat before its thumping kick-drum breaks through and powered by a rocky electrified bass riff marches on through two huge breakdowns. Powerful stuff indeed.
On the remix we welcome Items & Things boss Marc Houle, who unleashes a snarling bassline and spritely melody before the snare roll announces the the arrival of the synth line. Funky, mischievous and perfect for the late summer floors.
