JD Havens (Minneapolis, USA) is no stranger to underground dance music in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Having produced under Rhythm Renewal (with Nate Laurence) and Havens Heart (with Aaron Heart), his dj'ing and musicality is well known. This solo EP is something we're really excited about here at Pluralistic. JD starts off with a nod to Minneapolis and New Rochelle, with 'Get Together.' You'll hear bits of The Purple One (Prince) and jazz legend, Marlene Shaw (house-heads know the sound). 'Yea' gets both funky and smooth - staccato synth and bass, all played by JD. Finally, the EP ends with 'We Hustle,' a nu-disco jam with more of that Minneapolis sound. Enjoy!
