To describe this EP, what better words than those of ATTARI himself:
I have an intimate relationship with Beirut because I have been playing there regularly for 10 years.
The disaster that destroyed part of the city at the beginning of August shook me up. I felt partly destroyed myself, and I realised how much my attachment to Beirut and its inhabitants was.
I wrote the track "Gemmayzeh" thinking about this district of Beirut that I know well, imagining myself walking there, and then the explosion, and then nothing... and then everything, life starting again. I thought in particular of my friend Olivier, who lost everything but his life in the explosion. Every time I was in Beirut, I stayed, ate, laughed, got drunk at his place, a few meters from the port...
I translated my raw emotion into this track. For Beirut.
This track was originally released on the "For Beirut" compilation, and now comes with two remixes : A breaks / IDM version by Brussels' Jamie XX: Umbra, and a deep-ethnic-techno version by the hero of Brussels' nights M.O.S (in collaboration with Lui).
