Getting 2022 underway for Brooklyn-based imprint Short Circuit, label boss Jeff Sorkowitz teams up with long time cohort BRANCA to release their Spark It Up EP.



The two long-time collaborators team up for the second time on Sorkowitz’s imprint as a follow up to their 2021 Short Circuit collab, Gucci County. Between them, the pair have had previous support from the likes of Dennis Cruz, wAFF, Reelow, Syreeta, Mihalis Safras, Eskuche, Jesse Maas, Janeret and more, with releases on labels such as Deeperfect, Hedzup, Material Series, Fine Music, Whoyostro and more.



‘Spark It Up’ utilises a lowslung rolling bassline, with touches of urban flavour coming from the vocal. They add tripped out incidental sounds through the arrangement to give the track its journey, and provide a late night, afterhours feel.



On the flip, ‘EMPR’ starts with a dirty tech groove, with its bassline elements creating a gyrating rhythm. The duo adds a sleek vocal cut, stabs and chants, giving the track an even dirtier feel, straight from the streets of Brooklyn..
