Welcome to this project, where East Coast meets West Coast. From the nation's capital, vocalist Deborah Bond collaborates with Julius Papp and his fellow Canadians, Luis Machuca (aka Friskybeat) and Myles Bigelow. In the studio, Luis and Myles work together as Deep Culture. Hailing from Vancouver, they also provide a refreshing dose of soulful music nights at their own monthly event and at various guest appearances.
Entitled, "BELIEVE", Deborah delivers an uplifting vocal performance, nestled into several variations that Papp and the Deep Culture duo provide. This is Deborah's and Julius's second time around as far as projects go. Prior to this, in 2004, Julius was asked to remix one of Deborah's songs (This Is Me) and enjoyed it so much, he ended up providing two different versions.
On "Believe", Julius's interpretation is a soulful music journey with warm analog synths, splashed with a dose of jazz guitar and featuring Myles, live, on percussion.
Luis's interpretation also features live percussion, complemented with a driving synth part that energizes Deborah's performance, as the track then morphs into a deep, moody, excursion which gives Believe a feel-good sensation.
Myles contributes 3 versions that incorporates his take on both hand drums and production. His vocal mix is driven by live percussion with an organic afro-latin feel, while his synths float over top to give off an old school boogie-swing vibe. Myles drives the groove a little heavier in his Dublicious mix with intent to move the dance floor.
"Believe" is a great summer song with plenty of splash to keep your crowd movin'!
