Ludo Lacoste makes deceptively addictive bangers. When I first heard his Angie Stone sampling "When You Were Down", I thought it was just another version of a classic vocal. But that track has a depth to it that delivers more and more each time you play it. His release on GU, the excellent "One More Time", was the same. Every time I dropped it, I fell for it just that little bit more. He's been quiet during the pandemic but now is back with the brilliantly looping "Angela". Based around simple "I hear you've been askin' round" refrain, this is another wolf of a house tune in sheep's clothing. Don't mistake its simplicity for anything other than brilliance; it is a richly rewarding groove I am very much looking forward to playing to packed dancefloors.
