With his new Sverige EP Chris Wayfarer releases a musical travelogue. Four different tracks which reflect four weeks of parental leave in different regions of Sweden. A time-out in a country where the familiar and the foreign lie close together. That´s why with deep house, electronica and downbeat not only genre boundaries mix together, but also melancholy and tranquility with rough edges and club compatibility.

The EP starts on the rocky west coast of the Kattegat, in the south of Göteborg. Rain and storm welcomed Chris in Stråvalla during the first week. Deep chords and synths characterise the first track with its flowing nature. Decent used rhodes and harp sounds let the sun shine in between on the strange, rough beauty of the the fjords.

On the southern shore of the forest-fringed lake Vänern, tranquility returned literally. Occasional bird sounds interrupted a silence in Årnäs never experienced before. A quietness which is set to music in chords, pads and distorted bell sounds that provide depth to the framework of the pad-like bassline and the breakbeats.

Whereas an already familiar picture returned in the east. Houses perched on the rocks around Nävekvarn. Countless islands listened to the murmuring Baltic Sea in the archipelago in the south of Nyköping, while narrow dusty tracks interrupted the seemingly endless forests. Edgy sounds over a grumbling and occasionally resonant bassline reflect the roughness of the scenery, accentuated by single pads and a flute-like synth.

The southern tip of Sweden was completely different. The gently undulating hilly landscape of Skåne allowed to let the gaze wander - all the way out to the endless sea. And so the basic character of the closing track is different, too. Rhodes and synths lie over a descent downbeat. Strings and horns come in restrained at first. Then in the second part of the track they almost orchestrally proclaim the picturesque beauty of Sweden.
