The labels that Mendo has previously released on read like a who’s who of the current wave of house music credibility; Cadenza, Get Physical, Saved, Viva and Rekids to name a few. Having previously remixed Nick & Danny Chatelain’s ‘Rumba’ for Defected, The Prayers EP represents Mendo’s original productions debut for the label, here in partnership with fellow Swiss Yvan Genkins. The EP kicks off with ‘Gods on Hill’, a hip hop sampling, deep, jackin’, cut up house record that grooves and loops perfectly, and that continues with second track ‘Preacher’, with a female spoke word vocal that come straight from the pulpit. Although Swiss born, the Latino roots of Mendo’s upbringing can be clearly heard through both tracks, displaying an affinity to a tribal rhythm and a Balearic bounce.
