Subsonic Ebonics’ label head Huey Mnemonic returns with Technician. A three-track project of minimal tools for DJs – the technicians of the dance floor. Marking the second release on the label, Technician is the soundscape of his various roles in electronic manufacturing and as an SMT Operator.

Aiming to translate the sounds of machines whirring and various rhythms produced in these environments, the music serves as the medley to the synchronization of man and machine. The interactions between these two form a waltz in such a way, the very function of the relationship is almost symbiotic – denoting the observable cadence in operating these machines. Full of syncopated arpeggiated sequences and shuffling hats from the beloved rhythm composer, it's heard how the repetitive motions of this interdependent dance are nuanced and susceptible to change at any moment. We gather this reflection in the three mechanical funk-filled grooves of ‘Technician’. With each track acting as a variant to a rhythmic paradigm.

By manufacturing a truly euphonious remix, Max Watts gives a methodical interpretation expanding on the dynamic themes of Technician. Just fresh off an EP with NYC’s Bank Records and his own co-ran label Limited Network. Together the two do an exceptional job at providing uptempo cuts that work in any environment, whether on the shop floor or the dance floor.
