
He said he loved me over and over.
But i'd watch each letter slowly creep through his teeth
As they spell out the words I never asked to hear.
As the syllables stumbled across his tongue,
I saw hesitation and disdain hiding behind each vowel.
It only made sense that these three words,
Crumbled to dust each time they left his lips.
