Melbourne's TEMPUS drops a fresh single from Hoopla featuring two deep, tech
fuelled offerings.
Since 2015 TEMPUS has become part of Melbourne's dance music culture via its parties
and studio but as of 2019 it ventured into releasing music and kicked off with the synthheavy
electronic beats of local producer Hoopla in the form of his self-titled LP. Initially
inspired by the late noughties electro scene sound before becoming embroiled in his
home town's love of the last decade's minimal explosion, the 28 year old artist combines
stripped back production techniques with distinctly more 'maximal' musicality.
'Synchronicity' leads with a brooding title track that sees Hoopla clearly having fun with
tense, clattering percussive builds underpinning the tracks subtle melodic flair. On the
flip 'Pearl' is dominated by a piercing synth lead and a teasing arrangement which sees
the track's bottom end reserved for almost three minutes before letting its punchy groove
loose.
Hoopla's 'Synchronicity' is released on TEMPUS on 19th August.
