Perma and Du share their knowledge and cutting edge mastery of groove and rhythm in their upcoming EP, Time Therapy, which will be their second release on the label Vatos Locos run by notorious house and techno DJ and producer Hector.
The Berlin-based duo began their journey meeting through the Melbourne club scene, where they gathered their musical influences from the surrounding environment to gear their music-making skill set to release high energy, rhythmical beats to the dance floor.
Time Therapy, the fifth outing on the Clika series, is the perfect example of their craft, combining dark and percussive techno beats with emotive, glistening pads.
The EP opens with the title track which sets the tone for the whole work with its dusky breakbeat drums driving the music whilst sharp, sleek pads and clouded, ghostly vocals stir round the rhythm.
In My Dreams follows from this track, still driven by the drums yet leads the listener into a more subconscious state whilst listening with its mystical vocals and sparse, twisted synth leads, pads and bass line.
A lighter, more old school breakbeat rhythm opens next track, No Drama, which is accompanied by an interruption of sporadic, lo-fi vocals.
A simpler house beat closes the EP in the last track, Exotic 8th, which is driven by a power kick drum with mechanic-like vocals providing hits. Though the dark tone in which the EP establishes is still very much at the forefront, this track almost pays a homage to deep house with its melodic vocals swooping in and out, energetic hi-hat rhythm and funky lead and bassline riff driving the EP to a beautiful end.
The refined sound of this new, emerging talent in the dance scene is an exciting addition to distinguished Vatos Locos label, and fits within the Clika series beautifully.
