Brooklyn poet and songstress Ihsan announces herself with a highly original and lyrically brave debut single 'Black' which sees her team up with one of the original production kings of New York house and latin hip hop, Freddy Bastone (best known for his hugely sampled and still playing Corporation Of One anthem 'The Real Life').
A joyous expression of being 'Black' Ishan's individual lyrics and delivery stand out across the 5 different mixes covering all things soulful, house, dubbed out and jazzy and truly hard to find this lo fi groove in the age of autotune.
Produced & mixed by Freddy Bastone and Mark Henry, Brooklyn's finest Freddy is best known for his legendary DJ sets at NYC's Danceteria alongside the 90's superstar spinner, Mark Kamins. His worldwide reputation is based on his late 80s productions which spawned the classic latin hip hop smash Corporation of One's 'The Real Life' and further bangers 'So Where Are You' and 'Vanessa Del Rio' on the legendary Smokin'/Tuff City Records (NYC). Bastone has also worked closely with Blaze, Colonel Abrams, Dread Flinstone, Carolyn Harding, When In Rome, and Raww to name a few.
Freddy also released the 'Black Like Me' Corporation of One album in 1989 and his 80's hip hop output includes The Almighty El-Cee's 'We Have Risen' and 'Skool's Out' on Supertronics. He then went on to remix artists such as Queen, Missy Elliot, Lil' Kim, Radiohead and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
Delivering one of the standout mixes is UK producer Julian Garnett whose Julian G - 'As The Frost Sets In' vinyl debut on the 'Beyond The Pub EP' on Cosmic Pint Glass garnered a Stamp The Wax 'Premiere' on its December 2018 release.
