Fuse London deliver their second release this July and it comes from resident DJ and one of the capital city's most prolific DJs, Rich Nxt.Having collaborated with Hypercolour's Alex Jones for Art Department's No.19 imprint as well as chalking up releases for Sonat and Mighty Rumble, Nxt has a solid reputation as a producer in addition to huge respect as a DJ. Productions and sets combine late-night grooves with a distinct sense of strangeness that makes for an always-interesting listen. 'Bristle' is the second release for Fuse London, a label born from the incredibly successful sunday shindig that is Fuse, and it's a superb three tracker. The title track is an incredibly smooth affair that uses a strong vocal refrain to offset rounded, rich FM synth sounds. Subaquatic vocal effects and subtles use of delays result in a twilight, heads down feel which is added to with a distinctive use of strings. Incredibly absorbing and unique stuff. 'Beat' follows with a similar feel - a warm mix of sounds punctured by the occasional square wave bass pulse or otherworldly key progression. As you'd expect, 'Beat' is lively in the percussion department but, true to Nxt's increasingly apparent style, doesn't overly rely on tried and tested rhythms or sounds.'Seize' rounds off the package and is perhaps the most 'straight' of the tracks but no less effective. Stripped and bassy, it is centred on a simplistic, floor-planted groove which is incredibly infectious. This is a superb 2nd release from a label that is, already, heavily supported by a wide selection of DJs.
