Wake Up

Detroit Grand Pubahs vs Space DJz

Torque
TRQ009 | 2014-06-09
Underground phonema the Detroit Grand Pubahs team up with veteran techno act Space DJz for a slamming new EP on Torque, with remixes from Q'Hey, Angel Alanis & Maria Goetz, Shine, Ryogo Yamamori, Atta and JAK.

The 'Wake Up EP' travels deep into rough, rugged, underground techno territory with two originals, Wake Up and Late Uru Uru Night. Both tracks deliver pounding drums, jacking grooves and a timeless feel -- reflecting the decades of combined experience between this powerhouse production team of Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire (Space DJz) plus Detroit Grand Pubahs' Mr O and Paris The Black Fu.

Wake Up builds on the Space Djz + Detroit Grand Pubahs recent collab remixes for Funk D'Void's label Outpost, and Scottish label Bulletdodge, as well as a long history of top-notch material released under their individual artist names. With their respective output on some of the world's most prominent labels, we're pleased to unleash these uncompromising techno sounds on global dancefloors.

Rounding out the release is a selection of U.S.- and Japan-based remixers. On the Wake Up remixes, there's the big, driving Chicago stylings on the Angel Alanis and Maria Goetz' mix, Shine's frenetic, minimal rendition, and Atta's dark and funky mix. Also featured are driving, warehouse-oriented remixes of Late Uru Uru Night from Q'Hey and JAK, and a super stripped down and raw remix from rising artist Ryogo Yamamori.
