Critically and crowd-acclaimed house music producer Kai Alce and sassy vocalist Kayenne have teamed up once more for the latest NDATL release, "Love Don't Love You Back".

Kayenne, a spicy yet sultry bayou beauty, arrived in Atlanta from Baton Rouge, La., in 2002 to sprinkle a little heat into the music world. Her relatable lyrics and convincing vocal delivery connect with listeners, making them feel as if she's just given them a piece of her soul.

That holds true with "Love Don't Love You Back", which Kayenne wrote with Alce's production in mind.

Though her music has soulful elements, you can hear the rock and alternative influences of Terence Trent D'Arby and Pat Benatar, and a smoothness in the likeness of Amel Larrieux.

Since her beginnings at Hendu and Crossover Studio around 2003, the raspy-voiced singer has worked with noted Atlanta artists and producers such as Bobby Valentino, Armando Colone and Isaac Hayes III. In 2007, VIBE magazine and Creative Loafing newsweekly both spotlighted Kayenne as a new artist worth watching - and listening to.

In a continued effort to diversify her sound, she began writing with such underground dance producers as Justin Chapman of KemeticJust, and later Kai Alce.

In 2010, Alce and Kayenne would release the breakout No. 1 charting single "Someone", with help from veteran producer Phil Asher of Restless Soul.

Carefully nurturing her new found genre, Kayenne and Alce continue to collaborate on future singles and projects.

Their latest single, "Love Don't Love You Back", keeps the lyrics simple, which makes the words of un-returned love more relatable.

The tune starts out like a slow burn, with Kayenne's singing reminiscent of the embers of a passionate love gone wrong. Before long, her voice - and the groove - bursts into flames and engulfs the listener.

The backbeat is particularly notable, drawing you in as much as the heartfelt lyrics. The melody may be light, perfectly accompanying Kayenne's voice, but there's an unmistakable deep house base that makes the tune worth turning up.

Just in time to raise the temperature on dance floors globally this summer, "Love Don't Love You Back" is set for release in April on legendary dance label Basement Boys Records, with remixes from label owner Teddy Douglas to follow.

Special Thanx to Rick Corey, Byron The Aquarius & Terry Roanoke, DJ Swift for the dope video!
