Modular (Hot TuneiK Remix)

An artist of global repute, James Monro has been at the vanguard of the underground dance movement for multiple decades. Culminating in a body of work from a rich and varied career, the full-length "In the Ether" album showcased Monro's work in a dozen stunning tracks. As Yin and Yang now return to the album, "Modular" is remixed by Mexican and Greek producers.

An artist who has made great strides from his Mexican home, Diego Carr has created quite a stir with his Hot TuneiK moniker. Responsible for the highly regarded Hookah Records imprint as well as a host of successful club nights under the same Hookah name with performances from the likes of Kastis Torrau and Antrim, Carr has taken things further still with his work as Hot TuneiK. Thus, over a double century of production credits sit proudly against his name with notable releases for the likes of blue-chip imprints, Balkan Connection, 3rd Avenue and Particles. The recent "Revival" EP for the flagship Proton Music further illustrated the Hot TuneiK musical sensibility with a stunning twin-track offering.

A pair of remixes of Kaban and Derek Howell marked impressive work for Yang in 2016, and it is with delight that we see him debut on Yin with an outstanding rework of "Modular." Opening with soaring rich pads and soaring strings, a growing rhythm section builds with consummate ease as shuffling hi-has add groove and dancefloor character. Intelligently working Monro's central melodic motif, the Hot TuneiK remix adds a raft of new production material, taking "Modular" in a new direction fully revealed in a spell-binding third movement.
