Get ready to get your groove on with Menesix’s “Funk That Beat,” as well as an ensemble of funkalicious remixes alongside a poppin’ B-side. The title track is just downright fun, with bouncing rhythms and upbeat vocal samples that will get those hips swinging, “Funk That Beat” is the perfect party starter that will be a no-brainer for any DJ set. Following the opening track is something just as weird, quirky, and even more fun in “Stop Calling Me,” which of course contains cheeky phone samples but also some wonderful melodic vocals and pure pumping bass lines. Not to be forgotten are the equally talented remixers, including Max Kernmayer who presents a darker, dirtier version of “Funk That Beat,” and Fede Moreno’s blissfully chaotic remix made from skippy drums and swirling synths creating a strong tension only to be relieved by the infectious groove. Last but not least is a deeper shade of funk in the Noah Peterson remix who uses wonderfully lush chords as a backdrop to a proper bumpy bass line that is not to be underestimated.
