ON OFF ON is a producer and live performer using modern hardware and production techniques that harken back to the mod trackers of the mid '90s. With roots in Punk Rock, Funk, and Experimental Jazz, ON OFF ON is also heavily inspired by rave and acid sounds. The Base Two EP has been influenced directly by a long history and affection for computers and technology. The crisp digital harshness that permeates from the use of lower bitrate samples is the basis for the theme and sound design of both tracks. Bläckfisk is the swedish word for Octopus, a creature that ON OFF ON envisions and relates to when he performs. Recent experimentation with bitcrushing, lofi, and creation of blissful glitchy tails from simulated tape delays are the inspiration for "Bit Crush", a Valentine's day digital love ballad.
