The DPE head honcho is back on deck for the label’s tenth release, and what a package he has prepared! Stefano has solidified his place in the global scene and has a name synonymous with the finest quality tech house and grooving deep tech. As the man behind the hugely successful Deeperfect imprint, and now the fledgling superstar label DPE, his passion and oneness with this music is unmistakable.
Stefano’s ‘Universal Roots’ gets going with rolling percusion and swinging hats bedded in a backdrop of deep atmospheric pads. A punchy sub bass rolls on underfoot, while waves of lush synths open and breath with the track. A syncopated lead and stuttered vocal emerge together to push the tension high as the organic drums build and the energy rises as the track reaches its crescendo. This is an energetic and dynamic track that displays masterful use of tension and release to truly captivate the dancefloor!
The first of two remixes is delivered by none other than the Spanish legend Uner. Uner is a veteran of the game and has found notoriety with releases on some of the most coveted labels in the industry, including Diynamic, Visionquest, Cocoon and Cadenza. Uner is known for creating deep, driving and atmospheric music filled with rich texture and lush instrumentation and this remix is no exception. Here he creates an involving soundscape with an almost cinematic quality, but balances this perfectly with optimal dancefloor focus and functionality. The Serbian trio IDQ are next up to strut their stuff on remix duty. IDQ have turned heads in the past couple of years with releases on Global Underground and Yousef’s Cariaoca as well as remixing the legendary Sandy Rivera! IDQ bring a minimal, deep tech bomb with a pushing techno edge. The remix is stripped back and energetic with a heavy low end and distinctly driving edge. Heads down, knees up, and rave!
