March 2017's "Lost Again" once again saw Canadian Tim Penner at his vibrant best. With its beautiful melodic phrasing and glorious vocal layers, the title track was a highlight in Proton Music's release schedule, going on to see remixes from Subandrio and Simos Tagias. As Yin and Yang now return to the EP, two new interpretations from the USA and Russia provide renewed anticipation.
Operating out of the Moscow capital, Serge Tolstov has discovered a rich vein of form with his Stendahl production moniker. From the fertile Russian soil that has produced so many high-profile underground dance producers, Stendahl is another artist achieving great success on the global stage with support from such leading lights as Armin van Buuren, Chicane and Above and Beyond. A professional pianist, his passionately crafted work quickly became a favorite with leading labels including Statement! and Enormous Chills, sub labels of Armada and Enormous Tunes, while some 40 production credits for Silk Music have witnessed a host of high-profile hits that have seen collaborations with Japanese icon Shingo Nakamura and Indonesian superstar LTN.
Making strong use of the vocal content so fundamental to the original, Stendahl has created a sublime bass-groove that provides the perfect vehicle for an intricate percussive groove to sit atop. Tim's beautiful melodic sequences reveal themselves at the breakdown and a raft of additional production material sees Stendahl create a thumping dance-floor gem.
