The Mission Statement EP

Between Friends

A Deeper Groove Recordings
ADGR012 | 2014-04-04
Self-confessed hardware addict Between Friends pulls together a 3 track E.P of pure deep house music for the latest release on A Deeper Groove. Recorded using an arsenal of vintage analogue and digital machines, the sound is deep yet retains the funk. Machines speak with jacking drums, dub basslines, raw analogue and some sweet chords. This e.p has an old school vibe which will set the groove on deep house dancefloors.
Profile
Between Friends developed an interest in electronic music in the early 90’s when discovering the legendary Old school stuff, Detroit, Chicago and classic West Coast breaks. The tune that changed everything was on a little known label from the Isle of Wight called Schatrax. The track was Mis-Spent years and from then on things were never the same. From there Between Friends forged ahead with regular DJ slots ranging from Glasgow to San Francisco with the emphasis always focused on the deepness.
A defining moment for Between Friends was 4 years ago when a chance meeting with an old friend resulted in a number of studio sessions, the output of which has never been released. The creative spark was then lit and a new studio was born with the focus on hardware synthesis as it’s just generally a lot more fun and hands on to use hardware synths with knobs and patch cables.
Musical influences bombard Between Friends from all angles, soak it all up and embrace all styles. The music for the Mission Statement E.P is inspired by the artists on 20/20 Vision, Poker Flat, Moodymann, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Luv Jam, Schatrax, We Play House, Rawax, Hardkiss Music, Sunburn Records, Delsin, Fear of Flying and too many others to mention.
