ØSCILLATE Records return with their seventh release; a three track EP from Skyland Mountain, with a remix from ØSCILLATE Records regular Company Is Family. Skyland Mountain's second release on ØSCILLATE Records will be the first release of 2018, is a diverse EP, ranging from experimental techno, to minimal techno.
Up first on the package is ‘Blue Prism Exception’, a track with cutting highs, dubby kick drums, melodic chords, and atmospheric synths. It shuffles into its peak with twisted, yet soulful vocals, layered claps and offshoots from its breakdown into what is most definitely a unique and functional techno cut with an experimental and distinctive edge.
Company Is Family takes 'Blue Prism Exception' and adds a more minimal structure however keeps many of the original elements, including Skyland Mountain’s vocal samples, whilst subtly rearranging the placements of the chords. The Company Is Family remix takes the original and reinterprets it into an equally impressive minimal techno rework that builds in intensity as it progresses.
Skyland Mountain’s 'Snap On' rounds off the three-track package with a more industrial track to the original. Rising synths, intricate drum patterns and quirky nuances lead the way before the high-hats move the track into its breakdown. A hefty kick and low end give way to the returning synths as the track rolls into its peak, and the EP's finale. A definite peak-time track that stands beside the title track and Company Is Family’s remix of 'Blue Prism' as diverse, unique and experimental whilst remaining functional for the dance floor.
