Following the success of the release of DJ Shaun Ashby's Back to Basics Dub remix of 'The One That Got Away' (BBE) 2016, the second single from the album 'Outrospective' (BBE), it was only natural singer/songwriter Fae Simon collaborate further with DJ Shaun Ashby; presenting the culmination of the musical meeting between their alteregos: The Upendo Ep. Upendo - meaning Love in Swahili - hears both the producer and vocalist challenge themselves and each other; with deep alto vocals on top of quick afro beats and uplifting piano chords on 'Soul Smiling', to the almost 80's UK Soul sound of 'One Day' where Shaun layers heavy percussion with electro synths, along with Fae's signature harmonies, echoing Loose Ends and Soul 2 Soul. 'So Above, So Below' has Fae's vocals shining over Shaun's uniquely rhythmic body-shaking, head-nodding House. The catchy choruses, vibrant chords, heavy baselines and overall positive messages from the Superhero and the AfroFaerie should definitely leave you feeling the Upendo.
