To kickstart proceedings in 2018, ICONYC bring us the reissue of ‘Impact’ from label boss John Johnson. The seminal track was released in 2000 on the famed English Ministry of Sound imprint ‘IDJ ‘and gained huge popularity after receiving heavy play from both Sasha and John Digweed. It was the beginning of a wave of success for the New York based producer and remains a standout piece on his meticulous discography. Regarded as one of the defining tracks in the progressive house golden era it's irresistible hooks have stood the test of time remarkably well. For the first remix edition 238West have called upon Cid Inc. and Jamie Stevens to update the track.

The first interpretation of 'Impact' is provided by Cid Inc. who is making his first appearance on ICONYC. The Swedish born but now Finland based producer and Replug Records label boss has been enjoying the best year of his storied career. Cid Inc's unique fusion of techno beats, funk laden grooves and progressive minded sensibilities continues to be one of the underground's freshest sounds. As a perpetually in demand remixer Cid Inc's rendition of 'Impact' sits as one of his all time best club productions. Beginning with a fluid yet bouncy revamp of the groove the Swedish producers distinctive sonic hallmarks begin to work their way into the mix. Momentous rhythms along with complementary tones and a lively shaker lifts the vibe higher as the track reaches the main break. The nearly two minute interlude showcases a storyboard of rising modulation and atmospheric pressures which build to a tasteful apex before the unmistakable groove returns for a great moment. A perfect remix from Cid Inc. which will stand the test of time.

The second interpretation of 'Impact' is provided by Jamie Stevens who is also making his first appearance on ICONYC. The Australian producer has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of his country's most talented and sought after music producers he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary electronic music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian live act, he's left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha - Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion has received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work.

More recently Jamie's discography has been highlighted by a contribution to John Digweed and Nick Muir's 'Versus' album along with 'The Wonder of You', released in 2013 on microCastle, which is now regarded as his career best piece of music. In recent years Jamie has been famed for his Tech Dub revisions and he's worked that magic once again for a compelling interpretation of 'Impact'. Low slung bass stabs, vibrant percussion and spacey electronics, all wrapped together with the distinctive rhythms from the original make for a tough and engaging first act. Growling synths and distinct drum fills further the tracks sonic scope before it begins to strip down into the main break. The suspense filled interlude is fuelled with firing electronics and those unmistakable rhythms before a series of broken beats lets the growling synth loose once more for the ultimate finale. A cutting edge interpretation from Jamie which rounds out part 1 of the Impact remixes on a strong note. Don't miss them!
