It's hard to believe that Senso Sounds, the boutique label set up by Oliver Huntemann, is only in its third year of operation. Highly prolific and maintaining a seemingly impossible level of quality techno and harder edged house, the label has carved a niche for itself that far outstrips its fairly recent emergence on the scene.

This handy compilation gathers together some of the highlights from this year and serves as a reminder of the strength of the label and the wider scene in 2017. Boss man Oliver Huntemann contributes three tracks - 'Rotlicht', 'Manipulation' and 'Poltergeist' - all classic Huntemann in their own way - driving, sleek and tough as hell techno with attitude and style. Other highlights of the year are presented here - such as three tracks involving man of the moment Victor Ruiz. 'Red Lights' blew up big on its release earlier this year - a powerful and dynamic technoid monster that ripped up dancefloors world wide. Ruiz also contributes 'Nevermind' as reworked by Huntemann - a dream ticket for techno fans if ever there was one - plus 'I Am' - a track co-produced by Noir and featuring LA native Cari Golden on vocals.

The young Russian Maksim Dark also had a great year on the label, and here provides two more moments to savour - 'Revelation' and 'Dizziness' easily justify the hype surrounding this particular talent - razor sharp rhythms with a sense of drama and suspense. Another label favourite and long time collaborator also delivers the goods - André Winter has been in the game for the long haul, and continues to produce killer techno from the frontline - 'Fléaux' and 'Carte Blanche' are signature dark and messed up late night anthemns - keeping the spirit very much alive.

Elsewhere the compilation showcases its depth of quality with killer cuts from veteran producer Veerus, (of Veerus and Maxie Devine fame) who unleashes 'Mind Awake, Body Asleep', and Hamburg's own Hatzler, who brings his years of experience rocking crowds all over the world to the track 'Obsidian'. Munich's Julian Wassermann, a regular of labels such as Stil vor Talent, drops 'Neurose' - a tech house bomb if ever there was one. Shaded (aka Skyler Taugher) brings his funky US influences to his brand of techno, and here shares the big hitting 'Sip Trip', while Alex Luehr, the young Naples based DJ and producer delivers the sublime 'Atlante'. Each of the artists brought a distinct shade of techno to the label's roster this year, yet fit perfectly into the Senso family aesthetic.
